Blake Engineering Company 1939 - 1975
The Blake Engineering Company was founded in 1939 by brothers J.E. and C. Blake, general engineers and welding specialists. J.E.Blake had a keen interest in pressure Diecasting and, having difficulty in obtaining an import license, designed and built his own pressure Diecasting machine. He pioneered zinc alloy pressure Diecasting in New Zealand with a machine designed specifically for manufacturing zee pulleys.
Blake Diecastings Ltd 1976 – 1995
In 1976 a new 3000m² factory was completed on a 4.45 hectare site, together with this move came the name change to Blake Diecastings Ltd. Blake diecastings were the first New Zealand diecasters to produce a life and limb component for the Australian automotive industry.
