AXIAM's culture is always seeking to partner with our clients in the pursuit of manufacturing excellence
Manufacturing excellence
We can help you select the best materials from the full metals – plastics spectrum, including the latest research alloys, advanced engineering and metal-replacement thermoplastics and elastomers, steel-fibre filled materials. There is a huge overlap in the properties of both metals and plastics. AXIAM can help you find your optimal solution.
We will identify the best manufacturing techniques to produce your components, design and build the tooling required, then manufacture your component to the highest standard. Our flexibility enables small-medium to large production runs.
Plastic Molding
Plastic molding is an ideal solution for many and repeatable applications. AXIAM specialises in injection, reaction and composite molding. Injection molding is the high pressure injection of molten plastics into a precision mold on a repeatable basis. An example of this is the Back Skin development for Formway Design's Be chair. Reaction molding is multi component low pressure molding, either foam or rigid, for example: Ford's lightweight rigid folding cargo covers. Composite molding involves dissimilar materials eg carbon or kevlar fibre, set within a rigid plastic, intended for high strength and low weight situations.
Casting
Casting is the injection or pouring of molten metals within a fixed mold. The benefits of casting are high accuracy and repeatability. High pressure die-casting is typically used for larger production runs, particularly in lighter alloys like aluminium. Low pressure die-casting is typically used for smaller production runs that might require further machining. AXIAM also molds in irons, steels and other alloys using sand, shell and investment casting methods. These methods allow both simple and complex components to be made in small or highly repetitive volumes. View detailed casting info
CNC Machining
Computer controlled 3D cutting machines allow us to produce highly complicated components quickly with extremely high tolerances. AXIAM has 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines, with some multi axis turn-mill machines of up to 9 axis at once. Materials spanning the metal, plastic and composite range can be CNC milled. This allows for small to large repetitive volumes and simple to complex high tolerance machining. View detailed CNC machining info
