Axiam Plastics approached Ford Australia with a concept of a folding rigid light weight cargo cover, at that stage it was very much just a concept! However, it was enough to spark the interest of Ford engineers. It wasn’t very long before Ford took a very large gamble on Axiam. A new supplier, new unproven concept, no suitable machinery or technology on hand and Ford still moved from the comfort of their regular supplier part way through the Territory build program to go with something very new.

All new design technology in the “SatinJet” creates perfect micro-collisions of water. The collisions diffuse the surface tension of the water creating plumes of soft intensity. After 2 years of research, Methven Limited joined forces with Axiam Plastics to tool up and manufacture the 19 moulded parts that now make up the FT2022 Slide Shower Hand piece. Research was very much on going even during the manufacture of moulding tools as we learnt more about the critical and intimate relationship between the many components and how they affect the desired end result.
